I too like to look around who does what because it develops one's personal style etc. Annahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06242891949094380776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2088942591515348813.post-65972986577795644072012-12-10T06:20:17.944+02:002012-12-10T06:20:17.944+02:00Great post Anna :-) As for me, my choice of what I...Great post Anna :-) As for me, my choice of what I knit for myself is based primarily on my personal style, what suits my figure and my lifestyle, my interest in lace knitting and construction of garments. However, I do like to look at different fashion/style blogs from time to time and browse through fashion magazines. It is all inspirational for my knitting ideas and I always notice interesting knitwear and constructions as well as a new for me perhaps way of wearing something. Still, I do agree with you that it is not so straightforward. It also depends on facial features and bodyframe. Maybe I will write another post about it. I agree that there are no pure styles, of course, but several basic directions. Boho or ethnic trend can be accomodated both into dramatic style and into romantic style, depends what you do with it. And there is a great book on Estonian ethnic ornaments in contemporary design. You can use it in very different ways, depending on what look you are aiming at. I don't remember the title now, will look it up. And needless to say, you can obrain very different fabrics with different fibers and weights, even if you have the same stitch pattern. What about boho, gypsy, ethnic?<br />When I use current patterns, like from the hot right now on Ravelry, I'm sure that most of them are influenced by fashion world too. I've noticed that fashion is influenced by the rising popularity of hand knitting lately. polkaknitshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09393519836948382164noreply@blogger.com
