Ikka punane/Still red

Jätkan. Tuunika all on pikemat sorti t-särk, et oleks näha, kui palju on kootud.
I go on knitting. There is a longer T-shirt under the tunic in order to see how much I already have.

Proovisin ka peeglist pildistada, et näha, kuidas seljas on.
I tried to take a picture of my reflection in order to see how it fits.

Vaatame, kas lõnga jätkub. Ostsin 8 tokki, täna alustasin 5-ndat (juba alumise mustri sees). Vaatame samuti, kas on vaja kasvatada. Ma ei taha laienevat alaosa.
We shall see whether I have enough yarn. I bought 8 skeins and started the 5th today (already in the middle of the lower pattern). I don't want a widening lower part.

Midagi punast/something red

Eelkõige ilusat jaanipäeva kõigile! Nüüd on midagi punast. Punase värvi pildistamine on tänamatu töö. Lõng on Titan Wool Egitto, 50 g/120 m, 100 % puuvill. Meenutab väga Dropsi Muskati, millest on mul see vest.
First of all, have a nice midsummer day (in case it is a holyday for you). Now something red. It is counterproductive to photograph something red. The yarn is Titan Wool Egitto, 50 g/ 120 m, 100 % cotton. It strongly reminds of Drops Muskat, of which I have this vest.

Sellest tuleb tuunika või lühike kleit, oleneb, kuidas nimetada.
It will become a tunic or a short dress, it depends how you prefer to name it.

Vardad 3 mm. Tuleb arvestada, et lõng venib pisut. Alla tuleb ilmselt mõni muu muster. See muster meeldib mulle kangesti, ei saa tööd käest ära panna.
The needles are 3 mm. It has to be taken into account that the yarn stretches somewhat. Probably there will be a different stitch pattern in the bottom. I like so much this stitch pattern, I cannot put my knitting aside.

Merevaht nr. 2/Seafoam no 2

Seekord on tegemist tellimusega. Sooviti täpselt samasugust topi, nagu Merevaht. Ainult et suurus on suurem.
This time it is an order. The wish was a top exactly like Merevaht (Seafoam). Only in a bigger size.

Nagu näete, kõik on äärmiselt lihtne. Teistsusguse silmuste arvu tõttu on pisut teistsugune mustrikord. Mul pole lähiümbruses kedagi, kellel oleks see suurus, sellepärast on ainult riidepuupildid.
As you see, everything is extremely simple. Because of a different number of stitches the repeat is a little different. I don't have anybody in this size at home, that is why there are hanger pictures only.
Lõng/Yarn: Fonty Kidopale, 70 % mohair, 30 % polyamid (25 g/ 250 m), ~ 40 g
Vardad/Needles: 4 mm

Arutlusi lõngast/Speculations about yarn

Kõigepealt midagi uut. Tegelikult pole see uus päris uus. Minult telliti mohääritop, tegelik värv on türkiis. Alla tuleb muster. Praegu on kootud just niipalju, et käeaugud on juba olemas.
First of all, something new. In fact, this new is not quite new. I got an order for a mohair top, the real colour is tuqoise. There will be some lace pattern at the bottom. So far I have the armholes and a little bit more.

Nüüd aga lõngast. Käisin Karnaluksis kleidi/tuunika lõngu vaatamas. Kleit võiks olla suvine või mitte väga. Probleem oli selles, et nt lõngakoostis sobib, aga värv ei sobi ja vastupidi. Peenvillast lõnga oli päris palju ka, aga ei tea ette, kuidas puhas vill käitub, on kurbi kogemisi, et mõnikord ei hoia mustrit. Lõpuks otsustasin, et võtan prooviks ühe toki seda:
Now about yarns. I went to Karnaluks to pick some yarn for a dress/tunic. It could be a dress for summer or not. The problem was that if the fibers are fine, the colours are not suitable and vice versa. There was quite a lot of thin wool but there is no way to know in advance how pure wool would behave, for I have some sad experience when the fabric becomes shapeless. Finally, I decided to by one skein of this:

Vaatamata nimele, on selles lõngas 41 % villa, 34 % puuvilla, 25 % polüamiidi. 50 g/200 m. Mulle sobivaid värve oli vähe, kas see hall või must. Kui kellelgi on selle lõngaga kogemusi, olge lahked ja kirjutage.
Despite the name, the yarn has 41 % wool, 34 % cotton, 25 % polyamid. 50 g/200 m. Only two colours suited me, either this gray or black. If anyone knows anything about this yarn, please do let me know.

This time we took pictures at home, my daughter was the photographer.

Sviiter on soe ja paneb mõtlema külmale aastaajale, nii et ahi on kohane taust.

The sweater is warm and makes you think about cold seasons, so that the stove is a suitable background.

Lõng/Yarn: Ragsokgarn (Løve Garn), 50 g/ 80 m, ~450 g

Nüüd natuke tehnilist juttu. Muster on hõlpsasti kohandatav. Muutsin mustrikorra suurust vastavalt vajadusele. Ei peagi vist mainima, et sviiter on õmblusteta ja kootud ülevalt alla. Muidugi tegin proovilapi ja pesin selle ära, mõõtsin üle, ei olnud välja veninud. Siiski suur kampsun võib käituda teisiti (omaenda raskuse all). Tegin valmissviitri niiskeks, siis tundus, et koepind oli pisut veninud või, õigemini, lõdvemaks läinud. Põnevust jätkus, sest lõng on jäme ega tahtnud kuivada! Mitu korda vahetasin rätikut. Täna hommikul nägin, et kude oli saanud tagasi oma reljeefsuse. Soovitan seda lõnga, nüüd on see omal käel testitud. Lihtsalt varuge kannatust, kuni kudum ära kuivab.

Now some technical details. The stitch pattern is easily adjustable. I changed the width of the repeat when required. Needless to say, the sweater is a seamless top-down construction. Of course I swatched and moistened the swatch, then measured it and it had not stretched. Still, a big sweater can behave in an unpredictable way (due to its own weight). I moistened the finished garment and it felt like the fabric had stretched a little or, more precisely, became less defined. It was quite exciting because the yarn is thick and was not going to dry too quickly! I changed the towels several times. Today in the morning I noticed that the fabric had got back its definition. I recommend this yarn, as it is tested by me. Just be patient until your knitted garment gets dry.

Kooskudumine/Knitting together

Täna oli õnneks ilus ilm ja Tammsaare pargis toimus avalik kooskudumine, nagu oligi plaanis. Aitäh korraldamast, Terje! Liann Lõngad lõi kaasa, pildil kõige parempoolne on Getter, Lianni juhataja.
Luckily today was a nice weather and public knitting took place at Tammsaare Park as intended. Terje, thanks for organizing! Liann Lõngad shop was a co-organizer, the first from the right is Getter, the manager of Liann.
Rahvast polnud väga palju, kuid sellegipoolest kudujaid jätkus. Juhtumisi oli kohal ka rühm hollandlasi, kes on Eestis n-ö kudumismatkal (kädud Raasikul ja Haapsalus ja Tallinna lõngapoodides ja ostetud lõnga jms). Mõnega olen varemgi kohtunud. Carla on vasakul, ilmselt lehvitab kellelegi. Rohelise rätikuga proua taga on Hilly. Nad on Eesti kudumistraditsioonide austajad ja õpetavad Hollandis Eesti pitsi.
It was not very crowded but still there was enough knitters. Quite incidentally a group of Dutch knitters was present, they are on a knitting trip in Estonia anyway (visited Raasiku and Haapsalu and yarn shops in Tallinn and bought yarns etc). I had previously met some of them. On the left is Carla, she is probably waving to somebody. Hilly is sitting behind the lady with a green shawl. They are admirers of Estonian knitting tradition and teach Estonian lace in the Netherlands.

Ja siin olen mina oma sviitriga. Pildil on näha, et vardad on veel sviitri sees, tegelikult nüüdseks on täitsa valmis. Rahvas tegi nalja, et võikski vardad sisse jätta, oleks nagu avangardistlik ehe.

And here I am with my sweater. In the picture you can still see the needles in the sweater but by now it is finished. People made jokes that I could leave it with the needles and it would be a kind of extravagant decoration.

Varrukas/Sleeve

Muster meeldib mulle. Peale selle on seda hea pildistada.
I like the stitch pattern. In addition to that, it looks good in the pictures.

All on vardad, sellepärast, et otsustansin enne kududa varrukad ja siis vaadata, kui palju peab veel kududa, kuna varrukad panevad kogu kudumi paika ja võib selguda, et kampsun on liita lühike.
I still have the needles below because I decided to knit the sleeves and to consider afterwards how much should be added in the bottom, as the sleeves put the shape into place and it can very well be that the sweater is too short.

Praegu katab üks varrukas küünarnukki. Kulunud on üks tokk.
Now the sleeve covers my elbow. I have knitted up one skein.

Mustrikord on hõlpsasti kohandatav. Varrukas on sama mustriga, ainult mustrikord on pisut väiksem.
The stitch pattern is easily modifiable. The sleeve has the same pattern but the repeat is a little bit smaller.
