Veel sviitri pilte/More pictures of the sweater

Kristiinal tulevad alati head pildid, pealegi on Raekoda ideaalne taust. Eile tegime jälle väikse fotosessiooni. Aitäh!
Pictures taken by Kristiina are always lovely and, besides, Town Hall is an ideal backround. Yesterday we did another little photosession. Thank you!

Kudum kasvab/The knit is growing

Kasvab küllalt aeglaselt, aga siiski kere on juba valmis. Alustasin varrukat.
It is growing slowly but the torso is already finished. I have started the sleeve.

Palmik/Cable

Ma ei ole palmikuid eriti palju kudunud. Paistab, et Angora 2 sobib nende jaoks päris hästi, palmik on päris pehme. Nagu kaaskuduja Marit ütles, see on pesadega palmik, sest süvendid on nagu pesad.
I have not knitted a lot of cables. It appears that Angora 2 is quite suitable for them and cable look quite soft. As my knitting friend Marit has noticed, this is a nested cable becaue the cavities look like nests.

Sinimust/Blue-black

Ilm on ilus ja saab pildistada õues. Anne tegi eile mõned pildid, tänan!
The weather is beautiful and it is possible to take photos outdoors. Anne took some pictures yesterday, thanks!

Vana-uus kudum/Old-new knit

This sweater was designed by me for Villavyyhti yarn shop knitting club in Helsinki. Jenni, thanks for the invitation! I got some lovely sock yarn and the requirement was to knit the sampble from 2 skeins (800 m). So the patern includes both sleeveless (2 skeins for S-M and 3 for L and XL) and sleeved versions (I still managed to knit my sweater exactly from 2 skeins).
Jenni, kiitoksia!

Edeneb aeglaselt/Slow progress

On kiired päevad ja kudumiseks pole palju aega. Alustasin varrukat.
These days are busy and there is not much time for knitting. I've started the sleeve.

The colours are absolutely wrong but you can see the current stage.
Viimasel pildil on juba õigemad värvid, pildistatud on vastu valgust.
The colours in the last picture are closer to reality; the picture has been taken against the light.

Ebaühtlane lõng/Uneven yarn

Antud juhul ei tähenda "ebaühtlane" midagi halba, vastupidi, see ongi lõnga olemus. Lõnga nimi on Tagada, 100 g/570 m, mohäär + akrüül + polüamiid + elastaan, saab W&W poest.
In this case "uneven" does not refer to anything negative, on the contrary, it is the feature of the yarn. The yarn is called Tagada, 100 g/570 m, mohair + acrylic + polyamide + elastan, available at W&W yarn store.

Üleminekud on nähtavad vaid tugeva valguse käest. Koepind meenutab üsna tugevasti selle sviitri oma.
Actually the blue colour is quite dark and the contrast is smaller than in the picture. The colour transitions are visible in the strong light only. The fabric reminds quite a lot that of this sweater.

Plaanid ja tegelikkus/Plans and reality

Tegemist on Houston-nimelise lõngaga (villa-polüamiidi-polüakrüüli segu, 50 g/330 m). Mul on hea meel! Nii värv kui kude meeldis.
I planned a large-collared soft sweater in half-patent. The torso was almost finished and I noticed that I need more yarn because, as it is generally known, patent and half-patent stitch eat up a lot of yarn. I went to the store. Unfortunately, they had run out of that colour and it is not known when it will be available. It is the yarn named Houston (wool-polyamide-polyacrylic blend, 50 g/330 m). Unfortunately, I have no use for a vest and the collar + sleeves in another colour is not an option for me. However, a person who would like a longer vest turned up quickly, so the knit has a potential owner. I am very glad! She liked both the colour and the stitch!
Seega jätkan, kuni lõnga on, samuti viimistlen ära kaeluse.
Thus, I am going on until there is yarn and I will also do the finishing on the neck opening.

Poolpatent/English rib

On alles seletus!
This stitch has a lot of names in English and I am not sure what is the right one. In Estonian there is patent stitch when both on the right and on the wrong side you  make yarnover and transfer knit sitches to the right needles without knitting and purl purl stitces together with yarnovers. Half-patent is when on the right side you make yarnover transfer knit stitch without knitting and purl purl stitches and on the wrong side you knit knit stitches and purl purl stitches together with yarnover. What an explanation!
Patent or half-patent is also suitable for a yarn that otheriwise does not look good with fancy patterns. If you don't want stockinette but the yarn does not leave you many options, you can try patent or half-patent.

Valmis/Finished

Sviiter on nüüd valmis, loodetavasti homme saab ka minu seljas pildistatud.
The sweater is finished and hopefully there will be modelled photos tomorrow.

As stated before, I started with a waste yarn because I was not sure about the yarn for the collar. Also it happens quite frequently that it is difficult to decide whether there will be a collar at all. In this case you can get yourself some time for making up your mind. Of course, in principle I have nothing against starting right from the collar.

Kere valmis/The torso finished

Now the sweater is almost finished and the collar is needed. As it is well known, knitting sleeves takes much time (or it only seems so) but now I have the torso and the sleeves.
Nagu näete, alustasin abilõngaga. Vaatan, kas teen mõned lühikesed read, siis hakkan kraed kuduma.
As you can see, I started with the waste yarn. I shall see whether I will make some short rows and then will start knitting the collar.
Selline tumehall on kapriisne värv. Arvatavasti jätkan sama lõnga kombinatsiooniga (mohäär + meriino).
I was entertaining an idea to knit the collar from a different yarn of the same colour. But I could not find exactly the same colour. This kind of dark grey is quite moody. Most probably, I will continue with the same yarn combination (mohair + merino).
In case you understand Estonian, you can still register to my course that I will teach at Tallinn Folk University (10 October - 7 November). You can see the schedule and register here. I have been asked whether I could teach in a different language. I have offered this as well (Russian, Finish, English). Probably, this can be organized via a yarn shop and already next year. If you want, please let me know.

Ammused kudumid Käsitöös/Old knits in Käsitöö

I have promised to show the knits that appeared in the recent issue of Käsitöö. One of them is a top from Lithuanian linen held double, it was on the cover (post here).
