Thank you very much who have kindly commented on my Asfalthall top. Now let me introduce a new project that I started yesterday. But of course, gray again! You can figure out from the picture that this is again something like the Nurgake top. I decided to knit it from this pretty and nicely draping yarn, it should be suitable. I will have some lace pattern in the bottom.

See on tagapool. Tavaline labane parempidine sobib siia ka.
This is the back side. Just a plain stockinette looks fine on this yarn, too.

Lõnga polnud millegipärast Ravelry andmebaasis ega Schachenmayri kodulehel. Sellepärast panen siia sildi. Nagu mainisin, Karnaluksis on palju värve.
For some obscure reason the yarn is absent from Ravelry database and from Schachenmayr's homepage. That is why I place the label here. As I mentioned previously, Karnaluks is selling the yarn in a multitude of colours.

Asfalthall/Asphalt gray

Nüüd on top valmis, pesus ei veninud. Hea teada. Pildid on seekord kuidagi ühesugused.
Now the top is finished, it did not stretch after washing. Good to know. This time the pictures are somehow all of the same kind.

Tundub, et mul on seekord sobivaid ehteid.
I think that this time I have jewellery that goes together with the top.

Lõng/Yarn: Steinbach Capri, 100 % puuvill/cotton, 50 g/125 m
Vardad/Needles: 3 mm
Lõngakulu/Yarn used: 4 tokki/4 skeins
Lõnga kulus peaaegu täpselt 4 tokki, järel on üks väike jupp.
I used almost exactly 4 skeins, just a small bit remains. I had bought 5 skeins just in case since the yarn was unfamiliar. Now it is again about exchanging. I think it is quite a decent summer yarn and I can knit something else of it. The colour choice is sufficient.

I am continuing in the same spirit. Now some 4-5 repeats are needed. I decided against shaping, let it be a straight line in the 1920s style that is so much to my liking.

I decided that the beginning of the collar and the side pannels should be in garter stitch. I based my decision on a rather theoretical consideration that this could not be bad. Now I am glad because I see that the combination of well-defined leaves and garter stitch looks good.

Yesterday I went to Karnaluks. Before that I had been there last spring, if I am not mistaken. A lot of new yarns have appeared and to my joy the choice of mohairs has improved but also some attractive summer yarns are available. Schachenmayr Brilliant, rayon-cotton blend, a great choice of colours. The price was some 17 kr (slightly over 1 EUR) per skein, I bought 5 skeins.

Karnaluksis oli palju ostjaid, enamik välismaalased. Üks soomlane tuli sisse, vaatas ringi ja ütles valjusti: "Tämä on maailman paratiisi".
There were a lot of buyers in Karnaluks, the majority of them were foreigners. A Finnish lady entered, looked around and and exclaimed: "Tämä on maailman paratiisi" (This is the world paradise).

Ei saa ütlemata jätta/Cannot be silent

Mul polnud plaanis täna kirjutada, aga ma lihtsalt ei saa ütlemata jätta, kuidas mulle meeldib see muster! Siin toimub midagi nii edasi- kui tagasiridades.
I was not planning to post today but I simply cannot be silent and have to tell how much I like this stitch pattern! Here something is going on both in right side and wrong side rows.

Õige värv on siin:
The right colour is here:

Esi- ja tagatükk on juba ühendatud, koon ringis alla.
The front and the back parts are joined and I am knitting downwards in rounds.

See pilt on vastu valgust ja arvestades, et siin on suur kontrast (valge T-särk ja tumehall kudum), on üldmulje pisut sürrealistlik (valge lahustub ja sulab kokku õhuga, nii-öelda). Tean, et nii ei tehta. Siiski saab niimoodi pildistades mustri ilusti kätte.
This picture is taken against the light and, keeping in mind that there is a great contrast (the white T-shirt and the dark gray knitwear), a general impression is slightly surrealist (the white of the shirt dilutes and merges with the air, so to say). I know that one is not supposed to do this. Still, this is how one can get a good picture of a stitch pattern.

The yarn is a mercerised cotton (yesterday it was discussed in the comments). I am strongly inclined to try this stitch pattern with different yarns. I am afraid that in the nearest future you will see this stitch pattern several times.

Lehed/Leaves

Kõik teavad, et mulle meeldivad lehemustrid. Pigem abstraktsemad lehed kui pärislehtede matkimised. Siin on järjekordne näide:
Everybody knows that I like leaves in stitch patterns. More like abstract leaves than imitation of real ones. Here is an example of the kind:

Olen jälle suvelõnga lainel. Lõng on 100 % puuvillane Steinbach Capri, 50 g/125 m, vardad 3 mm. Värv ongi selline asfalthall.
I am in the summer yarn mood again . The yarn is 100 % cotton Steinbach Capri, 50 g/ 125 m, needles 3 mm.

Nagu näha, moodustavad sellised mustrid päris kena lainelise ääre. Sellest tuleb suvetop. Laineline äär on antud juhul kaeluse. Alt paistab abilõng. Hiljem võtan esi- ja tagatüki krae silmad üles ja koon paar rida.
As you can see, such stitch patterns make a beautiful wavy edge. It will become a summer top. The edge is the collar edge in this case. In the bottom a waste yarn is visible. Later I will pick up the stitches of the front and back of the collar and knit a couple of rows.

Jäälehed/Frost leaves

Nüüd on lubatud pildid, vest seljas. Kuna lõng on jäävärvi, olgu kudumi nimi Jäälehed.
Here are the promissed pictures, me modelling the vest. We discussed it once more with Anu and she also thought that such a delicate fabric does not need a button. As the colour of the yarn is that of ice/frost, the name sould be Jäälehed (Frost leaves).

And amidst yarn shelves:

Fotod/Pictures: Anu
Lõng/Yarn: BBB Soft Dream (220 m/25 g), ~ 35 g
Vardad/Neeldes: 4 mm
Just for a change I knit the vest from bottom, I am not dogmatical or fanatical about top-down knitting. Still I have to admit that top-down (or from front to back or from the middle of the back towards the front) is more to my liking.

Mustritest ja nööpidest/On stitch patterns and buttons

Alustame mustritest, siis liigume nööpide poole. Muidugi on võimalik klassifitseerida mustreid erinevalt. On olemas n-ö loomulikud klassid (pitsilised mustrid, palmikud), kuid kindlasti on igal kudujal omad assotsiatsioonid. Mul on näiteks sellised kategooriad (mõistagi ei hõlma nad kõiki mustreid): lehed, rombid, palmikud, palmikpitsid (palimiku ja pitsi kombinatsioon), pseudopalmikud, lained (siia kuuluvad ka sakilise äärega mustrid). Näiteks viimase topi muster kuulub selle klassifikatsiooni järgi lainete hulka. See on hõlpsasti modifitseeritav, mustrikorda võib muuta laiemaks ja kõrgemaks.
Let us start with stitch patterns and then move to buttons. Of course you can classify stitch patterns differently. There are so to say natural categories (lace patterns, cables) but definitely each knitter has own association. As for me, I have the following categories (of course they do not include all stitch patterns): leaves, diamonds, cables, cabel-lace (combinations of the two), pseudo- or mock-cables, waves (patterns with wavey edges belong here). For instance, the stitch pattern of my recent top belongs to the waves. It is easily adjustable, you can change the repeat to be broader and longer.
Ütleme, et laine võib olla selline:
Let us say a wave pattern can be like this:

Mõtlesin, et tahaks seda kasutada oma uue mohäärikudumi jaoks, aga teistmoodi. Näiteks kududa esialgu selle mustri järgi üks mustrikord ja järgmises nihutada, nõnda:
I thought I wanted to use it in a slightly altered version for my new mohair project. For instance, to knit one repeat according to the mentioned pattern and then to shift it like this:

Oma imestuseks (võib-olla teised teavad seda niigi ja see on vaid minu isiklik avastus) sain lehed! Kusjuures juba tuttavad lehed, umbes nagu siin. Väike muudatus, aga milline vahe ja milline seos erinevate mustrite vahel.
To my greatest surprise (maybe others know it anyway and this is just my personal discovery) I got leaves! And familiar leaves at that, almost like here. Such a small change but what a difference it makes and what a connection between different stitch patterns.
Siin ta on:
Here it is:
I thought that the pattern is suitable for mohair and is fun to knit and started on Sunday and today got this vest:

Nüüd nööpidest. Idee oli selline, et ma ei hakka õhukesse mohäärkoesse auke sisse kuduma, vaid heegeldan aasad. Läksin poodi nööpe vaatama, Liannis oli palju ilusaid nööpe. Oli mitu kandidaati, aga ei suutnud otsustada, mis mind häirib. Väga oluline on n-ö diagnoos panna.
Now about buttons. The idea was that I will not knit button holes into this delicate mohair fabric but crochet loops later. I went to the Liann store where there are so many beautiful buttons. There were several candidates but I could not decide what bothered me. It is curcial to get the diagnosis right, so to say. Then I realized: if there were a conventional hole, the button were strictly in the middle of the front. But you cannot do it with a loop if the button bands are symmetrical, then the button violates symmetry. Of course you can perfectly knit an asymmetrical vest but this is a different story. Thus, finally I decided that a small pin will help.

Loodetavasti saab homme-ülehomme korralikult pildistada. Mohäär on muide BBB Soft Dream, kulus 35 g.
Hopefully, better pictures tomorrow or on Friday. By the way, Mohair is BBB Soft Dream, I used 35 g.
