Täna veetsime päeva koos kududes Kristiina ja Avega. Kristiina oli lahkesti nõus pildistama.

We spent the day knitting together with Kristiina and Ave. Kristiina was kind to take pictures.

Kokkuvõttes: üsna lihtne, probleemitu kudum. Ei mingeid kasvatusi ega kahandusi. On juba küsitud õpetust, kavatsen kirjutada ja Ravelrys avaldada (siin ka).

In general, it is a fairly simple, unporblematic knit. No increases or decreases. I was already asked for the pattern, I am going to write it and to publish on Ravelry (and here as well).

I am mostly away from home during the light time, this is why the pictures are as they are. Not quite right colours but just a general view. I hope to finish it this year.

Jälle pisut tehniline/Again something technical

Minu käest küsitakse kimono lõike kohta. Seletan, kuidas olen kudunud. Graafika on siin väga primitiivne; siiski loodan, et on selge. Alustame punasest joonest (mõtteline õlajoon). Loome abilõngaga. Silmuste arv = 2 varruka pikkust + pikkus õlast õlani. Koome õlajoonest niipalju, et varrukad oleks paraja laiusega. Nõnda tekib ristkülik (must).

I have been asked about the kimono pattern. Here is an explanation how I do it. The drawing is rather primitive but I hope it will be clear. We start from the red line (imaginary shoulder line). Make a provisional cast on. The number of stitches = 2 x the length of one sleeve + the distance from shoulder to shoulder. Knit from the shoulder line as much as to get the desired width of the sleeve. In this way you get a rectangle (the black one).

Siis otsustame, kui lai on kaelus. Vastavalt sellele võtame abilõngad välja paremalt ja vasakult. Keskel jäävad silmused abilõngale (kaelus). Paneme silmused vardale (rohelised jooned). Võib kududa pisut kumbagi õlga eraldi. Siis on eest kaelus pisut sügavam.

Then we have to determine the width of the neck opening. According to this remove the provisional cast on from left and from right. In the middle, some stitches will remain on the waste yarn (the neck opening). Place the stitches on the needles (green lines). You can knit a little bit each shoulder separately. In this way the opening is slightly lower in the front.

Nüüd ühendame. Alustame paremast äärest, koome kaelaaugu suunas, loome abilõngaga niipalju silmuseid, kui on jäänud seljatüki abilõngale ja koome need silmused põhilõngaga, koome edasi vasaku õla silmused. Edasi koome samasuguse ristküliku, nagu seljatüki puhulgi (sinine ristkülik). Proovime selga aeg-ajalt. Now we join the front part. Start from the right edge, knit in the direction of the neck opening. Cast on with a waste yarn as many stitches as you have on the waste yarn for the neck opening on the back piece. Knit these stitches with the main yarn and then knit the stitches of the left shoulder. Then work as you did with the back piece (blue rectangle). Try on as you go. When the width of the sleeves is right, fold the work along the shoulder line and knit together the sleeves (purple lines). You will end up with the stitches for torso. Now work in the round. Later remove the waste yarn and place the stitches on the needle: the finnishing of the neck opening will be simple. If you want a big colalr, you can knit a tube.

One may ask what  stitch patterns to choose. For the beginning, you can take some vertical patterns, whereas the pattern repeat should not be too wide. First, you can adjust the number of stitches between the patterns. Second, when a repeat is not too wide, you can easily adjust the number of repeats.

Minu kudum on praegu selline. Kui see oleks sviiter, oleks vaja veel 15-20 cm, aga koon pikemalt.
My project looks like this now. If it were a sweter, some 15-20 cm would be needed but I am going to make it a longer garment.

Happy holidays to everybody and a lot of pleasant knitting, of course! Here is a new beginning. The right colour is much more intensive red than it shows in the picture.

Ravelrys on küsitud halli sviitri õpetust. Mõtlesin, et parem teen oma lemmiklõngast (Aade Lõng 8/2), kuna tekstuur ja langevus on siis suurepärane. Plaan on kududa tuunika või kleit. Kes tahab sviitrit, võib lihtsalt varem lõpetada. Õpetuse kirjutan ka lähtudes praegusest lõngast. Niisiis, tuleb minimalistlik lihtne kudum, mida on kerge sobitada erinevatele suurustele.

On Ravelry I was asked to write up a pattern for the grey sweater. I thought I would rather make it from my favourite yarn (Aade Lõng 8/2) because the texture and the falling of the fabric are wonderful in this case. I plan to knit a tunic or a dress. If one wants a sweater, you can just bind of earlier. I will write a pattern based on the present yarn. Thus, it will be a minimalist plain knit that is easily ajustable for different sizes.

Puuvillane jakk, talvest hoolimata/A cotton jacket, despite the comming winter

Ma ei mõtle kunagi nii, et nüüd tuleb talv, kooks midagi väga sooja. On avaldatud imestust, et võin keset suurt suve kududa mohääri. Koon seda, mis parajasti meeldib. Nii et vastu talve sai valmis puuvillane jakk.

I have never been thinking like this: the winter is coming, I should knit something really warm. Some people have expressed their surprise when I knit mohair in the middle of the summer. I knit what is to my liking at the present moment. So, preparing for winter, I made this cotton jacket.

Nööpe ei ole, mulle meeldivad viimasel ajal lahtised jakid. Aga võib kanda haaknõela või sõlega.
There are no buttons; recently, I became fond of jackets without buttons. But it can be worn with a pin or a brooch.

Talv on tulemas, kuigi ilm on detsembrikuu kohta üsna mahe. Need valged ebemed on lumehelbed. Raekoja juures polnud sellest lugu, küll aga lageda taeva all nägi Kristiina vaeva, et lumehelbed ei segaks!

The winter is coming althought the weather is rather mild for December. These white flakes are snowflakes. In the proximity of the Townhall it did not matter but without its protecting roof Kristiina had to manage the shoot so that the snowflakes would not interfere!

1) Minu lemmikvärvid on must, hall, punane, lilla ja roheline.
My favourite colours are black, gray, red, purple and green.
2) Tavaliselt mõtlen välja konstruktsiooni, kuidas kududa, siis otsin lõnga ja mustrit.
Usually I think about a construction first and then choose yarns and stitch patterns.
3) Mul on tavaliselt üsna palju kudumisplaane, ise asi, kas jõuan kõik teostada.
I usually have a lot of knitting ideas; whether I manage to fullfil them, is another story.
4) Ühelt poolt meeldivad mulle mustrid, teiselt poolt minimalistlik disain. Püüan leida tasakaalu kahe vahel.
On the one hand, I love stitch patterns, on the other, I am attracted to minimalist design. I am trying to find a balance between the two.
5) Hea meelega teeks koostööd mõne moedisaineriga. Et kudumid oleksid osa kollektsioonist.
I would be mostly delighted to cooperate with a fashion designer. Knitwear would be a part of the collection.
6) Mu lemmiklõngad on villane, linane ja mohäär. Samuti meeldivad viskoosisegud (vill ja viskoos, puuvill ja viskoos jms).
My favourite fibers are wool, linen and mohair. I also like rayon blends (wool and rayon, cotton and rayon etc).
7) Tahaksin uurida põikikudumise võimalusi.
I would like to explore the possibilities of sideways knitting.

Jätkub/In progress

Minu käest on küsitud, kas teen jaki allosas ka ripsiribasid, nagu varrukatel. Teen ikka! Kavatsen kududa veel 2-3 cm ja siis teengi.
I have been asked whether I am going to knit the garter stripes in the bottom part of the jacket as I did for the sleeves. Yes, I am! I intend to knot 2-3 cm more and then will do it.

Veel üks asi. Kuna on huvi halli sviitri vastu ja kuna avaldasin ise mõtet, et kude oleks palju ilusam, kui lõng oleks nt Aade Lõng 8/2, kavatsengi nüüd kududa teise versiooni sama kalkulatsiooniga.

One thing more. As there is some interest towards the grey swater and as I have expressed the idea that the texture would be much nicer in Aade Lõng 8/2 wool, I am going to knit another version with the mentioned yarn using the same calculations.
