Tõlkimisest kudumises/On translation/interpeting in knitting

Pildid on võetud style.com lehelt.
It is not about translating knitting patterns from one language into another but about translating/interperting of sewing into knitting. In Estonian, the internal logic of the word "tõlkimine" (translating) is based on the searching for meaning and interpretation (translation and interpretation are basically the same words in Estonian, the former is "tõlkimine" and the latter "suuline tõlkimine" (oral translation), translator is "tõlkija" and interpetor is "tõlk". There is nothing about transfer or transplantation, as you see in the English "translation" or German "Übersetzung" (the literal meaning of the latter is "transplantation"). Thus, we shall talk about what garments from fabric would look good also as knits. As it is known, fabric and knitted fabric have different properties. I mean shapes, silhouets, colour distribution and proportions. All pictures are from style.com site.
But of course, Helmut Lang, one of my favourite designers. If you have smooth even yarn, somewhat shiny (with rayon), it would be suitable for such a simple knit. The shape, the proportions, the distribution of colours: everything is extremely laconic, so if you fancy some stockinette, here you are!
Or this one: you pick up close shades and distribute them like this. By the way, you can use small portions of yarn remaining from other knits so that you work does not have to be with frequently alternating stripes!
I will rather talk about the jacket and not the trousers here. A great idea again, if you have yarns of the same colour but different fibers. Or there can be a minimal difference in the tone.
I will start thinking and maybe I will come up with a translation/interpretation one day!

I often save photographs of sewn clothes that inspire me in terms of my knitting. I also think that some elements can be very well translated into knitting fabric and design :-)
