Üllatus/Surprise

Täna sain paki Donnalt, tema blogi loen regulaarselt. Saime tuttavaks Ravelry kaudu, kui mõlemad viibisime sel suvel Vilniuses. Käisime koos lõngapoodides ja veetsime kenasti aega.
Today I got a parcel from Donna, whose blog I read rather regularly. We got acquainted through Ravelry while we both were in Vilnius this summer. We went together to yarnshops and had a wonderful time together.
Pakis oli see raamat:
The pack contained this book:

Siit saab palju huvitavaid ideesid. On jooniseid ja konstruktsioonide seletusi.
One can get a lot of good ideas from this. There are schemes and explanations of constructions.
Aga põhiline on see:
The main treasure is this:

See pole tavaline raamat. Selle taga on etnograafiline uurimus, välitöö, intervjuud. Peale koekirjade saab teada ajaloost, lõngast, tehnoloogiast ja paljust muust.
This is not a usual book. Ethnographic research, field work, intrviewing are behind this. In addition to the stitch patterns you get a lot of information on history, yarns, technology and many other things.
Ja see oli üllatus: kena punane pitsilõng.
And this was a surprise: a fine red lace yarn.

Ilmselt Hiina oma, silt oli selline:
Probably, a Chinese one, the label looks like this:

Aitäh, Donna! See on tõesti armas.
Thank you, Donna! This is really nice.

Heli, juu, tuntuu, että on pakettien aikakausi:)
Helena, kiitos, erittäin pidän Arctic Lace-kirjasta.
Eila, en ole vielä keksinyt mitä tehdä. On selvä, että siitä tulee pitsihuivi. Ehkä käytän Arctic Lace-kirassa kuvattuja periaatteita. Jono on pitkä:)

You're welcome Anna! Enjoy the books and the yarn. I can't wait to see what you make. You should look at the photos of the patterns made by the knitters in Alaska villages. They would not let me include charts but an expert lace knitter such as yourself should be able to figure out the patterns from the photos. They are amazing!
