Raasikul/In Raasiku

Täna käisime Ruthiga Raasikul lõngavabrikus. Seda ilu ja rõõmu ei oskagi kirjas väljendada, küllap kudujad mõistavad seda niigi.
Today Ruth and I visited Raasiku yarn factory (manufacturer of Aade Lõng aka Kauni). I cannot express in writing the joy and the beauty of it; I am sure knitters would understand it anyway.

Lõngu on mitmesuguseid, ühe- ja mitmevärvilisi.
There are plenty of yarns, one- and multicolour.

Otsustada on raske, siiski oli mul enne juba mingi plaan olemas.

It is difficult to decide; however, I had had a sort of plan before the trip.

Kohe näitan oma oste. Siin on roheline 8/2 (100 g/400 m) USA sõbrale.

I am going to show my purchases now. Here is variegated green 8/2 (100 g/400 m) for a friend in USA.

Ise plaanisin osta 8/1, 8/2 ja 8/3 lõnga, nii et üks neist oleks ka üleminekulõng. See on 8/1 (100 g/800 m), muide, uus värvikombinatsioon. Rätikulõng, mõistagi.

For myself I planned 8/1, 8/2 and 8/3, one of them variegated. Here is 8/1 (100 g/800 m), by the way, this is a new colour combination. It is a shawl yarn, of course.

8/3 (täpselt metraaži ei tea, aga see on DK jämedus) helehall on mulle jakik.

8/3 (don't know m/g relation but it is some kind of DK yarn) light grey is for my cardigan.

Ja lõpuks ilus erepunane 8/2 (100 g/ 400 m), kas topiks või rätikuks.

And finally a nice bright red 8/2 (100 g/ 400 m), either for a top or a shawl.

Müüja oli hästi sõbralik ja seltsiv. Ta arutas meiega, mis värve võiks veel teha. Näiteks rääkisime, et võiks olla türkiis-must üleminekulõng (türkiisi eraldi ja musta eraldi on). The saleswoman was rather friendly and talkative. She discussed a possibility of new colours with us. For instance, we agreed that there could be a turquoise black variegated yarn (there is a turquoise one and a black one already). Then there could be a beetroot red, they already produce a pre-yarn in this colour. Anyway, to knitting now! It is good that I have completed one sleeve and started the second one.

Jätkan tellimust, mis vahepeal pooleli jäi. Mohäärituunikat nimelt.
I am continuing the order that had been put aside for a while. Namely, the mohair tunic.

Nagu näha, mul on valmis kere ja osa ühest varrukast.
As you can see, I have the torso part and a part of one sleeve so far.

When I work with mohair, I always want to take "window pictures".

I know that this is against the rules but there is something to it. Maybe someone can explain why it works?

Klassikaline/Classical

As Anu was not in the store today and I needed the buttons, because my daughter has to travel and take the cardigan with her, I opted for this place:

Varem oli see pood Pika ja Nunne tn nurgal, nüüd on Viru tänaval. Meeldiv koht, kust sain õunapuust nööbid (ja väga soodsa hinnaga pealegi, 5 kr tükk!) ja kus sõbralikud müüjad olid nõus mind pildistama.
Earlier the store operated on the corner of Pikk and Nunne street, now it is on Viru street. It is a pleasant place where I got apple-tree buttons (very cheap at that, 5 EEK for a button) and where friendly sales persons agreed to take pictures.

Poes müüakse natuke Elotroi lõnga, mitmesuguseid kudumeid, ehteid jne, jne. Nööpe on igas suuruses, ka kadakast, pihakast, tammest, valik on suur. Jäin vaatama mustast tammest keed.

The store carries some Elotroi yarn, some knitwear, jewelry etc, etc. There are buttons in many sizes, also from juniper, rowan, oak, you name it. My attention was captured by the necklace made of black oak:

Several readers have written that the cardigan has a very classical look. Hence the name.

Jälle Vilniuses/In Vilnius again

Olen jälle Vilniuses, seekord lühikeseks ajaks. Võtsin kaasa mohäärituunika, sai alustatud juba varem, nüüd tahan valmis kududa.
I am in Vilnius again, this time it is a short trip. I took the mohair tunic that was started some time ago; now I want to finish it.
Mezgimo zona lõngapood on endiselt rahvast täis ja neljapäeviti on kudujad koos. Tuttav pilt!
The Mezgimo zona yarnshop is full as usual and the knitters gather on Thursdays. It is a familiar picture!

Sonata on valmis saanud väiske rätiku Aade lõngast (nüüd kõik huvilised teavad, mis asi on 8/1 ja 8/2).
Sonata has knitted a small shawl from Aade Lõng yarn and now every interested knitter knows what 8/1 and 8/2 mean.


Ja saabunud on uued lina värvid, ilusad ererohelised! Praegu ei ostnud midagi, aga hiljem kindlasti.
And linen in new colours has arrived, beautiful bright greens! I did not buy anything now but later I certainly will.

It was a pleasure to see old friends.

Kuivab/Drying

Kiirpostitus enne ärasõitu. Kampsun kuivab. Kui tagasi jõuan, siis saab näha, kas tütar on sellega rahul. Ja kindlasti läheb vaja nööpe.
A quick posting before the trip. The cardigan is drying. When I am back, we will see whether my daughter likes it. And of course buttons are needed.
Kaalu kohta ei oska täpselt öelda. Minu arust alla 400 g.
I cannot say exactly about the weight. I recon it is less than 400 g.

Muster meeldib mulle ja kavatsen varsti kasutada. Ülevalt alla või alt üles, ikka ilus.
I like the lace pattern and intend to use it soon. It does not matter whether top down or bottom to top, it is nice all the same.

Varrukas/Sleeve

Olen maininud, et millegipärast ei meeldi mulle varrukaid kududa, tundub igav. Seekord peab ütlema, et edeneb kuidagi kiiresti. Eile alustasin ja nüüd on üks varrukas peaaegu valmis.
I have mentioned that for some reason I dislike knitting sleeves, it seems boring. However, this time I have to say that it is progressing pretty fast. I started one sleeve yesterday and it is almost finished.

Kudusin ülevalt alla, võtsin üles käeaugu silmused, eraldusjooneks paar rida ripskoes.
I knitted top down, picked up stitches from the armhole and made a couple of rows in garter stitch as a separation line.

Praegu on päris huvitav valgus, mulle meeldib mustrit pildistada.
The light is rather interesting right now, I like taking pictures of the stitch pattern.

Valge/White

Kavatsesin juba tükk aega pildistada, aga jätsin üsna õhtuks. Nüüd on vihmane ilm ja valgus toas pole vist kõike õigem. Siiski valge värviga pole probleeme. Mul on kootud peaaegu 50 cm.
I've been thinking about taking pictures for some time but left it until the evening. Now the weather is rainy and the light indoors is not the best possible one. Nevertheless, white is unproblematic. I have almost 50 cm knit.

Pean veel kord ütlema, et muster meeldib mulle. Peaksin seda kindlasti kusagil kasutama. Väike pseudopalmik nööbiliistu kõrval on kasulik mitmel põhjusel: esiteks, kena kaunistus, teiseks, mõnikord on vaja saada teatud silmuste arvu, mustrikord aga seda ei anna, siis saab kasutada midagi "väikest".
I have to say it again that I like the stitch pattern. I should definitely use it somewhere. A little mock-cable near the button band is useful for several reasons: fist, it is a nice decorative element, second, sometimes you don't get the right number of stitches you need and then you can add something "small".

Nagu ikka, külgedel on ripskoes ribad. Antud juhul pole vaja kasvatada, aga sellised rips- või pärlkoeribad on selleks kasulikud, pole vaja mustrit ümber kalkuleerida jms.
As usual, there are stripes in garter stitch at the sides. In this case there is no need for increases but such garter or moss-stitch stripes are useful for shaping, you don't have to recalculate the lace pattern.

Midagi muud ka. Pronksi poes nägin täna Saaremaa villast 8/2, naturaalvalget värvi. Tundus kena lõng. Kujutan ette, et see sobib värvimiseks (Raasiku ja Jõgeva valge ja naturaalvalge puhul on see eksperimentaalselt tõestatud, vt siin). Praegu ei oska rohkem öelda, kas muid värve tuleb ka.

And something else. Today in the Pronksi yarnshop I saw Saaremaa wool 8/2, natural white. It seemed to be a nice yarn. I imagine it is suitable for dyeing (it has been experimentally proved for Raasiku and Jõgeva white and natural white wool, see here). For now I cannot say whether there will be other colours as well.

There is no photographer and thus I have only these pictures. I still hope to be able to model it soon. I sew buttons to the end of the scarf and it is possible to wear it as a cowl if wanted.

Peaaegu valmis/Almost finished

Sall on peaaegu valmis. Miks peaaegu? Puudub veel üks väike detail. Sellest ehk homme-ülehomme, kui jõuan.
The scarf is almost finished. Why almost? Because a small detail is lacking. If I have time, then there will be more about it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.


Värvide üleminekuga olen rahul. Sobib paljude riietega.
I am glad with the colour transitions. The scarf matches my clothes well.

Lõng ei anna värvi pesemisel, ei veni välja. Muide, tuli meelde, et Raasikul on uus värv nimega "pink-lila". Vaadake siit (alumises reas paremalt teine), täpselt selle pluusi värv + mõned sinised ja lillakad toonid!
The yarn does not run colours when washed and does not stretch. By the way, I remember that Raasiku has a new colour named pink-lila. You can see it here (the second from the right in the bottom row), exactly the colour of this blouse + some blue and purple tones!

Nüüd mõtlesin välja, kuidas võib poolikut salli näidata. Võtsin seelikuriidepuu ja kinnitasin ühe otsa.
I've invented a way to demonstrate a scarf in progress. I took a hanger for skirts and fixed the end.
