Täiskasvanud inimesed mängivad kah. Sain nüüd selle ülesande Elianalt, peab üles kirjutama, mida 5 meelt tähendavad isiklikult mulle (s.o., mis seosed tekivad).
Grown-ups like to play games as well. I got this task from Eliana. I am supposed to write what 5 senses represent to me personally.
Reeglid:
1- näita see silt oma blogis
2 - postita reeglid
3 - lingi sellele, kes kutsus sind osalema
4- tee nimekiri meeltest ja millega nad seostuvad
5 - kutsu veel 5 blogipidajat, jättes nede blogidesse kommentaari.
Kardan, et sellega võib olla raskusi, sest mul pole ehk väga palju tuttavaid (loen paljusid, aga ei saa päris tundmatule inimesele pähe määrida).
Here are the rules:
1 - Show this tag in your blog
2 - Post these rules
3 – Link back to the blog that tagged you
4 - Make a list of the 5 senses and what each one represents for you
5 – Tag five other blogs, and let them know by leaving them a comment (this may be difficult, I read a lot of knitting blogs but I don't dare to impose this onto people I don't know well).
Niisiis/ So:
Nägemine: puud akna taga
Kuulmine: vihmapladin
Maitsmine: õun
Kompimine: mõni mõnus lõng
Haistmine: värske kohv
Sight: the trees I see in my window
Hearing: the sound of falling rain
Taste: apple
Touch: some lovely yarn
Smell: fresh coffee

Nüüd räägime kudumisest. Ma ikka koon ka, kuigi praegu pole pilte näidata. Las olla väike üllatus, eks näis, kuidas asi välja kujuneb, siis räägime.
Let's say something about knitting. Really, I am knitting, although I have no pictures to sow. Let it be a little surprise, we shall see how the things will turn out.

Folkloor ja muud jutud/Folklore and other matters
Schoppel Merino Lace'i sildil on kirjas varras nr 5. Hakkasin sellega proovilappi tegema, on auk augu kukil!
A saleswoman in a yarnsshop told me once that one cannot trust the needle size recommended on the label. She actually said that the needle size indicated there was "folklore". Recently I've had a chance to experience it. Schoppel Merino Lace label says needles 5 mm. I started swatching and there were holes, holes, holes! Then I figured out that, as a matter of fact, 50 g = 400 m is comparable to usual thin mohair. While my knitting is relatively loose, no 4 seems rather appropriate.
Kui juba jutte rääkida, siis räägin lõngaröövist. Lianni pidid saabuma uued lõngad, sellest rääkis müüja nädal aega tagasi. Nüüd kuulsin, et lõngad pole veel saabunud, kuna möödunud nädalal kusagil Prantsusmaal rööviti ära konteiner, kus olid muuhulgas meile mõeldud lõngad. Lõngad olevat alles, röövlid tabatud, muu kraami kohta ei tea. Saabuvat mõningase hilinemisega. Huvitav, kas röövilid olid ka pettunud?
If we are into telling stories, I am going to tell about a yarn robbery. Liann yarn store was expecting some new yarns, as I heard a week ago. Now I heard that the yarn had not arrived because somewhere in France the container had been robbed where, among other things, the yarns were stored. They say that the yarns have not disappeared, the robbers caught, the fate of the rest of the cargo is unknown. The yarns are expected sometimes later. I wonder whether the robbers were disappointed?

Arutlusi/Speculations
On loogiline, et küsitakse, mida ma lõppude lõpuks otsustasin kavala salli asjus. Arvata võib, et harutasin. Kunagi koon selle teisest, sobivamast lõngast. Mida järgmisena kududa? Mul on mõned mõtted küll.
It sounds logical that people ask me whether I have reached a decision about the cunning scarf. Clearly, I frogged it. Some day I will knit it using a more suitable yarn. What shall I knit next? I do have ideas. I will write about it another time when my thoughts are more clear. Today I will write about Anu's yarn shop (aka Pronksi yarn shop) where I was today, knitted swatches and made pictures. While in Vilnius, I praised our yarn shops to my friends. Let's see some pictures.

Mis mulle ei meeldi?/What is it that I don't like?
Hea küsimus. Sellise küsimusega läksin täna Vilniuse Casa Lana lõngapoodi tuttava müüja juurde. Asi puudutab muidugimõista kavalat salli. Kahtlus tekkis juba eile.
It is a good question. I asked exactly this question a saleswoman I know at Casa Lana yarn shop in Vilnius. It concerns the cunning scarf, of course. Already yesterday I had doubts. I had knit the scarf and seamed it with provisional threads and showed to a couple of local knitters but they found nothing wrong. However, I did think something was wrong. It is not about proportions etc, the stitch pattern matches the yarn; my doubt was whether the yarn is suitable for this kind of knitwear. The saleswoman was in the shop together with two knitters, they were eager to give me advice. My doubts were confirmed: it is not enough that the knitwear drapes well, some texture, structure and fluffiness is needed for this kind of garment. If it were a shawl or a scarf (not the "cunning" but an ordinary one), then it were another story.
The next question is what is next. I never think twice about frogging, I don't need a garment I wouldn't like to wear. As I see it, there are two options: 1) to frog the seams and to leave the simple scarf (not the "cunning" one); 2) to frog everything and to knit something else with this yarn, a shawl or a bolero with a leaf pattern (see the previous post).
Arguments in favour of (1): it is easily doable, the remaining scarf is not at all impossible, the stitch pattern is fine. Arguments against (1) (I warn you, it is going to be rather speculative): If I would have wanted a wrap or a shawl, I would have chosen a more complicated stitch patern, something more interesting. Arguments in favour of (2): you cannot have too many shawls/wraps; I've just sketched a lace pattern that I would like to try; apparently, I need to knit something with a leaf pattern, why not a bolero with one, especially if anyone thinks that I have too many shawls. Arguments against (2): isn't it a shame to frog so much (but I answer: no, it is not a serious argument). If anyone has arguments or sees other options etc, please let me know. Right now I am more inclined towards (2).
Ja nüüd teisel teemal: eile kohtusime ühes Vilniuse kohvikus Jurgita ja Sigaga. Andsin mõlemale üle lõngad. Rääkisime lõngaolukorrast riigis (siis Leedus ja Eestis). Sain meeldiva üllatuse, nimelt Siga kinkis mulle 2 tokki Schoppel Merino Lace lõnga (hiljuti sain 3 tokki, aga teist värvi, vt siin). Õige värv on rohekam. Arvan, et tean, mida sellest tahta.
Now about other matters: yesterday Jurgita, Siga and myself met in a cafeteria in Vilnius. I gave over the yarns I had brought for them from Tallinn. We spoke about the yarn situation in our states (Estonia and Lithuania). I got a nice surprise, Siga gave me a present, two skeins of Schoppel Merino Lace (recently I've got 3 skeins but another colour, see this). The true colour is more greenish. I think I know what to knit with it.

Lehed, lehed/Leaf stitch patterns
"Kaval rätik" kuivab. Pildid kunagi hiljem. Kuna ma pole kodus, pole mul oma fotograafi.
The "cunning scarf" is blocking. Picutres will be later. As I am not at home, I don't have a photographer.
Nagu varemgi kirjutasin, on kasulik vaadata kudumeid, mida müüakse poodides. Saab häid mõtteid. Eile astusin poodi, kus müüdi päris hea tegumoega, aga kahtlase kvalteediga kraami. Toredad kudumid, aga peaaegu kõik 100 % akrüül jms. Sellegipoolest vaatasin lähemalt mustreid. Mul on viimasel ajal tahtmine kududa lehemustreid.
As I wrote earlier, it is quite useful to study knitwear in shops. You can get good ideas. Yesterday I visited a shop where they sold some nice knitwear that had poor quality. Beatiful things but almost everything was 100 % acrylic. Nevertheless I gave a close look to the stitch patterns. Recently I am into leaf stitch patterns. I know that it is not wise to take pictures of the mirror reflection but this was the only opiton.
Mustrid:
Stitch patterns:
Ja kõik kokku:
And the general view:
Ilmselt pole paha kombineerida erinevaid lehemustreid ühes kudumis. Järgmises boleros võiks katsetada.
Apparently, it is not a bad idea to combine several leaf patterns in the same garment. I could try this in the next shrug/bolero.

Jälle vahepealsed asjad/In-between matters again
Koon vapralt edasi. Vahepeal on Ravelrys valmis saanud ilus rätik. Uskumatu, kuid sama mustri järgi, aga erinevast lõngast kootud asjad tunduvad hoopis erinevad. Katyusha sai hakkama niisuguse kena asjaga minu õpetuse järgi (Sivilla). Foto autori loal.
I am knitting away. Meanwhile a beautiful shawl appeared on Ravelry. It is unbelievable how different yarns make the same pattern look completely different. Katuysha made this beautiful shawl using my pattern (Sivilla). She kindly allowed to use this picture.
Võib-olla peaksin endalegi kuduma ühe mohäärivariandi.
Maybe I should knit a mohair version as well.
Elina, thank you, I love that red yarn as well. I think I have an idea what to do with it.
Päivi, kiitos!

Muu jutt/Other matters
Aitäh kõigile, kes viitsisid vahepeal kommenteerida. Eila, küllap ma juba koon usinalt:) Sall on juba igavene pikk, oleks veel vaja 6-7 mustrikorda ja soonikut. Minu käest on küsitud, kuidas on lood lõngaallergiaga.
Thank you everyone for your comments. Eila, neulon ahkerasti:) Eila, I am knitting diligently:).The scarf is rather long now, I need 6-7 repeats more and then the ribbing. I've been asked what about yarn allergy. I have to say that this matter is settled in the best possible way. I am wearing my bolero without any troubles. This surprises me. One knitter proposed a hypothesis that some yarns have very short hairs that tend to fly around etc. These are short and similar to dust and cause allergy. After a thorough washing and rinsing they disappear. It seems that this hypothesis is true. It has nothing to do with the dye. Wonderful news because I intend to bue Raasiku yarn in future.

Vahepealsed tegemised/In-between
Käisin täna Pronksi poes Anu juures. Poodi on saabunud suur hulk suurepärast lõnga. Kahjuks polnud mul fotokat kaasas. Pildistan teine kord. Väga palju mu lemmikvärve: halle, musti, lillakaid ja rohelisi. "Kaval sall" edeneb, seda on juba poole jagu kootud. Loodetavasti saan järgmisel nädalal valmis.
Today I was in Pronksi yarn shop at Anu's. A huge portion of wonderful yarns has arrived. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera with me. There is laceweight wool of many colours, tweed, angora-wool blend, alpaca-wool blend etc, etc. Everything is on bobins, so you can ask for the exact amount you like. If you take the whole bobin, you'll get 20 % discount. I made several swatches there: first, one can see what yarn it is and what it is good for, second, I can make up my mind whether I want this particular yarn. I liked alpaca-wool blend the best, knitted with 5.5 mm needles. Moss stitch looks especially nice. Then there was some unusual dark grey wool that knits itself! I will make pictures another time. A lot of my favourite colours: blacks, greys, purples and greens! I've got about a half of the "cunning scarf" by now, hope to finish it next week.
Täna lähen nädalaks Leedusse. Võtan kudumise kaasa. Viin sinna mitmesugust lõnga: peenikest pitsilõnga ja Raasiku kirjut. Täidan Leedu kudumissõprade tellimusi.
Today I go to Lithuania for a week. I am taking my knitting with me. I am also taking laceweight wool and some variegated Raasiku wool. It was an order from Lithuanian knitting friends.
Olen meelitatud.
And one more pleasant surprise this morning: Villapeiko added me as a friend on Ravelry (if you are not on Ravelry, look here). I am flattered.

Üllatus/Surprise
Täna sain paki Donnalt, tema blogi loen regulaarselt. Saime tuttavaks Ravelry kaudu, kui mõlemad viibisime sel suvel Vilniuses. Käisime koos lõngapoodides ja veetsime kenasti aega.
Today I got a parcel from Donna, whose blog I read rather regularly. We got acquainted through Ravelry while we both were in Vilnius this summer. We went together to yarnshops and had a wonderful time together.
Pakis oli see raamat:
The pack contained this book:
Siit saab palju huvitavaid ideesid. On jooniseid ja konstruktsioonide seletusi.
One can get a lot of good ideas from this. There are schemes and explanations of constructions.
Aga põhiline on see:
The main treasure is this:
See pole tavaline raamat. Selle taga on etnograafiline uurimus, välitöö, intervjuud. Peale koekirjade saab teada ajaloost, lõngast, tehnoloogiast ja paljust muust.
This is not a usual book. Ethnographic research, field work, intrviewing are behind this. In addition to the stitch patterns you get a lot of information on history, yarns, technology and many other things.
Ja see oli üllatus: kena punane pitsilõng.
And this was a surprise: a fine red lace yarn.
Ilmselt Hiina oma, silt oli selline:
Probably, a Chinese one, the label looks like this:
Aitäh, Donna! See on tõesti armas.
Thank you, Donna! This is really nice.

Muster/Stitch pattern
Otsustasin hoopis sellise mustri kasuks.
I decided to use this stitch pattern. Ordinary dimonds, one purl stitch in the middle (so that knitting is not borring and to add elasticity). There is a problem with the leaves, namely, they all look in one direction. Of course I could knit two pieces and seam them exactly as I did with my Pillowcase bolero but in this case I will have several seams anyway.
By the way, a lovely Pillowcase has been added to Ravelry; those of you who are not on Ravelry can see it here.

Soonik/Ribbing
Aitäh kõigile, kes kommenteerisid! Nüüd alustatud tööst-
Thanks for your comments everybody. Now about the beginning of the new project.
Alustasingi "kavalat salli". Soonikut on seal u. 25 cm.
I started the "cunning scarf" today. As it usually goes, I have to knit some ribbing. It is not terribly important that everything should be as in the garment I saw in Vero Moda (after all, I made my own calculations and I am not copying their stitchpattern), but in general it seems rather reasonable to have a long ribbing. The ribbing is appr. 25 cm long. As you can see, I have knit 12 cm. Yes, it is a bit of borring but I am saying to myself that the lace pattern comes soon.
Here is the skein and a bigger picture of what I have for now:
As you can see, the background is"Pitsilised koekirjad".

Veel üks proovilapp ja muud/One more swatch and other matters
Alustan millestki muust. Katja andis mulle edasi selle märgi:
I will start with "other matters". Katja handed me this label:
See tähendab, et pean ausalt ütlema enda kohta 10 asja ja siis edasi andma märgi teistele.
This means that I have to list 10 things about myself and then challenge other bloggers.
1. Olen kohati hajameelne, ei märka ilmseid asju.
At times I am absentminded, I don't notice the most evident things.
2. Olen suur kohvijooja.
I am a coffee-drinker.
I don't like knitting pure cotton yarn (maybe I have not encountered the right one yet).
I don't knit from patterns, not that you don't know this.
I like lace stitch patterns but they should not be overloaded.
6. Pigem kaldun minimalismile (see järeldub eelmisest väitest).
I am inclined to minimalism (this follows from the previous statement).
7. Mulle meeldib mohäär. Seda teate nagunii.
I like mohair, you all know it.
8. Mulle meeldib nn labane parempidine kude väljanägemise poolest, kuid mitte selle kudumine kilomeetrite viisi.
I like the look of stockinette stitch but not knitting it for miles on and on.
I have knit a lot with Raasiku yarn (Aade) and intend to do it in future as well.
10. Ma ei koo sokke, kindaid ega mütse.
I don't knit socks, mittens and hats.
Nüüd pean valima inimesed, kellele märk edasi saata. Olen alles uus blogija ega tunne paljusid. Kutsun siis:
Now I have to choose those to whom I send the label. I am a fresh blogger and don't know many. I challenge:
Helena, Eila, Heli
Nüüd pärisasjadest. Tegin veel ühe proovi, see on lihtne lehemuster. Tundub, et sobib paremini.
Now about the real matters. I made another swatch, this is a simple leaf pattern. Probably, this suits better.

Plaanid ja proovilapid/ Plans and swatcing
If you have too big a choice, it is no good either. Lots of ideas but you cannot do everything at once. I made up my mind, I will put mohair aside for a while. Especially because I got yarn for my new knitting project. I bought it at so-called Epp's shop (a small yarn shop in front of the Kosmos cinema in Tallinn, many locals know it). It is Shetland tweed. Now more about the project.
I labelled it "cunning scarf". The idea is in the air. You knit a long and relativly wide scarf and fold it and seam in a certain manner, so that you can wear it in different ways. Several vests/caridans are in one garment. There was a garment in Vero Moda shop, several colours available. I measured the garment with a measuring tape in order to get a clue about the proportions. It is worth inspecting knitwear in Vero Moda, it gives you good ideas.
Samas on mul tahtmine kududa lehemustrit. Lehemustril on palju variatsioone. "Pitsilistest koekirjadest" ja "Haapsalu sallist" saab näha erinevaid variante. Lõng tundub esialgu kõvavõitu, aga kudum tuleb kindlasti pärast ära pesta, siis lõng läheb hästi pehmeks. Ja nüüd proovilapike. Värv on hallikas-lilla:
At the same time I want to do a leaf pattern. Is it wise to unite this wish and the wish for the "cunning scarf"? It seems that it is not impossible. Leaf patterns have many variation. "Pitsilised koekirjad" and "Haapsalu sall" are great sources to consult. In the beginning the yarn seems somewhat hard but it is necessary to was the swatch afterwards in order to see the real quality of the yarn (it gets soft and nice). And now the swatch. The colour is greyish-purple:
Lõpetuseks midagi muud. Läksin raamatukokku, et võtta tellitud raamatud. Kaugelt nägin kaant ja mõtlesin, et ma ei olnud ju tellinud midagi kudumisest, mida siis lõngad kaanel teevad? Üsna pea selgus, et mul oli õigus: ei tellinudki. Päris meeldiv, et lõngad ja keeleteadus on siin koos.
And finally something else. I went to the library to get the books I had ordered. From afar I saw the cover and thought that I had not ordered anything about knitting, why the yarn on the cover? Very soon it became clear that I was right indeed, I had not ordered anything about knitting. It is nice to see that yarn and linguistics are put together here.

Vahepealne/ In-between
Eelkõige südamlik tänu kõigile kommentaaride eest! Konstruktsioonist kirjutan pisut hiljem. Jah, äär on lai, ääre laiuse peale võiks mõelda kudumit konstrueerides.
First of all, thank you all for you kind comments. I will write about the construction a little bit later. The border is wide and it would be a good idea to think it over while you are planning your bolero.
Kiitos, Helena, minäkin pidän leveästä reunuksesta! Thank you, Helena, I like the wide border too!
I have a substantial project in mind but do not have the right yarn yet. In-between I could do another project. I am thinking whether I should put mohair aside for a while or not. I have 50 g of dark gray mohair. When buying it, I was thinking of a shawl. Now I started with a classical leaf pattern but it seems that the stitch pattern does not stand out in this colour. Or am I mistaken? I will make pictures later. It is clear that the mohair will be eventually used: my favourite colour and favourite yaryn. But right now I am strongly inclined to knit this leaf stitch pattern. Maybe it is a sign that I should rest from mohair a little bit?

Valmis/Finished
Nüüd on lõpuks mõned pildid. Mul puuduvad modelli oskused. Loodetavasti on siiski näha, kuidas asi on mõeldud.
Now some pictrures. I totally lack modelling skills. Still, I hope you can imagine how this thing is meant to be.
I don't know if I can wear this or will have to give it away.
I will write more about the construction another time. There are several possible constructions of a bolero/shrug, some are knitted like short cardigans but there are other versions as well.

Ravelrys pole sellest just palju kootud.
Today I got this nice yarn from Tiina. It is a yarn swap: I sent her some pure wool lace weight yarn from Pronksi shop in Tallinn and she sent me this mohair-merino blend. I've never tried this yarn, it is not sold in Estonia. But it would be fun to try it out. There are not too many projects on Ravelry from this yarn.
Kiitos, Tiina!
Nüüd kuivab, ehk homme saab juba korralikke pilte.
And now the bolero. Looking at all these pictures it seems that the colour of the new yarn and that of the bolero is almost identical, but it is not. Knitted with tears in the literal sense of the word! Now it is drying and maybe tomorrow I'll get proper pictures.

Loodetavasti see pole villaallergia ega Raasiku villa allergia. Võib-olla on asi konkreetses värvis. Küsisin mitmelt tuttavalt Ravelrys, mida asjast arvatakse. Mõnel on allergia konkreetse lõnga liigi vastu (nt mohäär, puhas villane jms), kuid värviallergia pole sugugi tundmatu.
It's a pity but I feel that it is difficult to knit further. I will nevertheless try to finish the bolero part. I am knitting the border now. Hopefully, this is neither wool allergy nor Raasiku wool allergy in particular. Maybe the dye is to blame. I asked several friends on Ravelry what they know about it. Some are allergic to particular types of yarn (mohair, pure wool etc) but dye allergy is not unknown. One of my friends knew that blue is likely to cause allergy. This is not the case here but it is good to know anyway. I hope to finish this and to write something more interesting and invormative in future!

Kudum edeneb/ The progress
Proovilapp oli korras, hakkasin nüüd kuduma. Nüüd on kootud u. 47 cm, 8 mustrikorda pikkuses. Esimesel pildil pole värv päris õige, teine on selles mõttes parem. Mängisin pahepidiste silmuste arvuga, et saada õige laius. Mustrikordade vahel on ühks pahempidine silmus. Kena muster, sobib sellele lõngale.
The swatch appeared fine to me and I started knitting. Now I have appr. 47 cm, 8 repeats. The colour is not quite right in the first picture, the second one is better. I modified the number of purl stitches in order to get the right width. There is one purl stitch between the repeats. Lovely stitch pattern, it matches the yarn perfectly.
Kõik on kena, ainult väike tehniline probleem: mul on kuri kahtlus, et olen sellele lõngale allergiline. Silmad on vesised.
Everything is fine but I have a small technicdal problem, namely, I strongly suspect that this yarn causes allergy. My eyes are full of tears. I would like to belive that I am not allergic to wool as such. A friend supposed that maybe the problem is the dye of this particfular yarn. It would be very sad if I cannot continue.

Mohäärimets
Siin on üks mu kudum, mille õpetust tihti küsitakse. Nimi on Mohäärimets, sest sviiter on rohelisest mohäärist. Muster on väga tavaline pitsimuster, eesti pitsikudumises tuntud "Vausabakirja" nime all.
People often ask me for the pattern of this sweater. The name Mohäärimets means Mohair Wood. The lace stitch pattern is a very basic pattern, known in Estonian knitting tradition as "Vausabakiri".
Mohäär on pärit Diteksasest, millest oli juttu varem. Vardad 4 mm. Mul kulus 50 g (suurus 34-36).
The mohair is from Diteksas, the yarnstore I mentioned earlier. Needles 4 mm. I used 50 g (size 34-36).

Konstruktsioon on lihtne, Roostevesti puhul kasutasin sama põhimõtet. Mustrikordade arvu võib muuta vastavalt vajadusele, samuti pahempidiste silmade arvu.
I started from bottom. The main thing is that you have even number of repeats, in that case you can easily distribute repeats for front and back. The pattern is easily ajustable for different sizes. Purl stitches are between the lace pannels and you can adjust their number as well. In the body part I had repeats of 11 stitches (2 purl st and 9 for the pattern) and 10 stitches in the sleeves (1 purl and 9 for the pattern). CO 88 stitches, worked in round, then after 20 repeats divided the knitting where the sleeves would start, knitted separately 4 repeats, then joined again, made 1 repeat, knitted 2 rows and BO. I picked up 42 stitches for the sleeves. 40 is for the lace pattern and 2 just knit. The sleeves are 16 repeats long. I knitted a couple of rows after that and BO.

Proovilapid/ Swatching
Eeelkõige üks lõngakera. Tegelikult on värv sügavam.
First of all, a skein of yarn. In reality, the colour is deeper.
See on nn Raasiku villane lõng 8/2, tuntud samuti Aade Lõnga nime all, välismaal ka Kauni nime all. Mu Padjapüüri-nimeline bolero on üks näide. Pitsimustrid tulevad päris kenad. Muidugi võib kudum venida, sellepärast peaks proovilapi ära pesema (lõngal on vabriku lõhn küljes, seda tuleb lõpuks teha nagunii).
This is so called Raasiku wool 8/2, aka Aade Lõng; foreigners know it as Kauni. It is well knon that the yarn is excellent for shawls and wraps, but not only. My Pillowcase bolero is one example. Lace patterns look quite nice. Of course it may stretch after washing, so it would be wise to wash the swatch (this yarn has the smell of yarn factory, so you will want to wash it anyway).
Nüüd proovilapp: üleval enne, all pärast pesemist. 1 mustrikord on 12 x 12 cm. Vardad nr 3,5. Muster "Pitsilistest koekirjadest", kergelt modifitseeritud.
Here is the swatch: the top picture before and the bottom one after the washing. I am glad that it did not stretch at all. One report is 12 x1 2 cm. Needles 3.5 mm. The lace stitch pattern is a slight modification of a pattern from "Pitsilised koekirjad" by Leili Reimann.
The construction of the future knitting project depends on the stretchyness. It is nice that this case is unproblematic; still, one can expect that the finished project may stretch a little (it has happened this way: a swatch behaves but the finished garment may sligltly increase in size). The future project is a cardigan or a bolero with sleeves.

Natuke konstrueerimisest/ Some notes on garment construction
Nüüd püüan kirjeldada, kuidas tegin Roostevesti (vt eelmine postitus). Lõng on Diteksasest (üks tore lõngapood Vilnuuses) hangitud mohäär. Diteksas on omaette jutt, väärib ehk omaette kirjutist. Praegu piirdun üldisema märkusega, et seal müüakse lõnga pooli pealt, tihti pole teada, mitu meetrit on 100 g kohta. Siiski olen võrrelnud mõne teadaoleva mohääriga ja tean, et see on umbes 220-250 m/25 g kohta, sega suht standardne peenike mohäär. Selle mohääri kudumiseks on mul tavaliselt vardad nr 4.
Konstruktsioon aluseks on muster, mis on kergesti kohendatav - mustriribade vahel on pahempidised silmad, mille arvu saab vajaduse korral suurendada. Alustasin alt, laius on 9 mustrikorda (5 seljatükile ja 2 kummalegi esitükile). Mustrikord on 10 silma, seega 90 + 1 sümmeetria tarvis + 2 ääresilma kummaski otsas = 95 silma. Kokku 138 silma. Kudusin 20 rida soonikus 2 x 2. Ongi kogu lugu.
Mitmed on küsinud õpetust. Mu suurus on 34-36. Kui keegi teeks kalkulatsiooni suurema/väiksema suuruse tarvis, oleks tänulik.
Now I am going to describe how I knitted Roostevest (see the previous post). The mohair comes from Diteksas shop in Vilnius. Diteksas is worth describing in a separate post. For now I will limit this to a general statement that yarns are sold there in bobins and m/100 correlations are often unknown. Still, a comparison to some known mohairs yields the result like 220-250 m/25 g, thus, a pretty much standard thin mohair. Usually I use needles 4 mm for this one.
The basis of the construction is a lace stitch pattern that can be easily adjusted to different sizes: there are purl stitches between lace pannels and you can add purl stitches if needed. I started from the bottom, CO 95 stitches: 9 lace repeats (5 for the back, 2 for each front side), 10 st each + 1 st for the symmetry + 2 edge stitches at each side. I knitted 11 repeats up to the armholes, then divided the knitting and knitted the back and the front sides separately (4 repeats). I knitted together the top of the back and the front sides (it is called bind off with 3 needles, I believe), leaving the live stitches in the middle of the back part (neck). Then I picked up stitches on the sides of the front parts and added the stitches of the neck. Total 138 st. I knitted 20 rows 2 x 2 ribbing. That's it.
Some people have asked for the pattern. I don't know how to write patterns for different sizes. In my view, it is the principle that is important, i.e., how a garment is constructed; one should try with the own yarn and own "handwriting" and then make individual calculations. My size is 34-36 (English 8-10). I would be grateful if anybody would make a calculation for a smaller/bigger size.
