Mõned proovilapid/Some swatches

Tegin Marianne's Mohair firma jaoks paar proovilappi. Mõlema proovilapi lõng on Linen Mix, mohääri-linase segu. Helesinine auguline on kardigani jaoks.
I made a couple of swatches for Marianne's Mohair. The yarn for both swatches is Linen Mix, mohair-linen blend. The light-blue one is for a cardi.

Hall on patentkoe ja aukude kombinatsioon. See näeb hea välja mõlemal pool, pakun, et võiks teha salli.
The grey one is a combination of brioche stitch and eyelets. It looks nice on both sides and I assume I could make a scarf.

 

Sall/The scarf

See kukkus välja ootamatult hästi. Kui kudusin, arvasin, et on tavaline sall, kuid pärast leotamist ja pingutamist panin kaela ja ei tahtnud ära võtta.
It turned out unexpectedly will. While I was knitting, I was thinking that this was just an average scarf but after socking and blocking I put it on and did not want to take off.

Üht ja teist/Various matters

Sall üleminekuvärvidega sokilõngast on valmis. Selle pildi tegin siis, kui oli veel pooleli. Varsti näitan juba valmiskujul ja kirjutan pikemalt. Praegu ütlen vaid, et pool- või täispatent on lihtne ja efektne muster, sobib ka siis, kui teha sall igasugu jääkides. Külmemal ajal võtan ette ja revideerin oma mohäärijääke, siis tuleb jälle midagi patentkoes.
The scarf from variegated sock yarn is finished. I took this pics when it was still in progress. I will get taken photos of the completed scarf soon and write more about it. For now I would just say that half-brioche and brioche is simple yet outstanding pattern and is good for a scarf from all kind of leftowers. When the cold season comes, I will undertake revision of my mohair leftovers and make something in brioche stitch again.

Varsti tuleb veel rätikuid, sest ees on traditsiooniline käsitöökruiis ja sain juba lõnga ja ülesande disainida krusiisrätik. Sügisel tuleb Tallinna Rahvaülikoolis rätikute konstrueerimise kursus, vt siin, selleks ajaks peaksin läbi kuduma veel paar konstruktsiooni.
There will be more shawls soon because the traditional carft cruise (Helsinki-Stockholm) is coming and I have already got some yarn and the task to design a shawl. In autumn I will teach shawl construction course at Tallinn Folk University (if you know Estonian, look here) and I have to knit up several more constructions before that time.

Patentkoes sall/Scarf in brioche stitch

Selline lõng ei vaja mingeid keerulisi mustreid. Teen praegu lihtsat salli.
This yarn does not require any complicated pattern. I am making a simple scarf now.

Rätik sokilõngast/Sock yarn shawl

Kirjutasin siin Martin's Lab sokilõngast. Nüüd pärast mitmeid katsetusi sai valmis rätik.
I wrote here about Martin's Lab sockyarn. Now after several attempts the shawl is completed.

Põhimuster on poolpatendi ja aukude kombinatsioon. Aga äär on ripskoes ning tänu lühikestele ridadele ei ole tipp nii terava nurgaga ja otsad on pikemad.
The body of the shawl is a combination of half-brioche stitch and eyelets. The edge is in garter stitch and due to short rows the tip does has a less sharper angle and the ends are longer.

Sviiter on valmis/The sweater is completed

Poolpatentkoes sviiter sai valmis, olen sellega rahul. Pärst niisutust ja pingutust avanes kude kenasti ja muutus ühtlasemaks. Tõsi küll, pidin alt pisut lühemaks harutama, aga see pole lõnga, vaid hoopis poolpatentkoe "süü". Sviiter on paras n-ö keskmisele ilmale, mitte liiga kerge ja mitte hirmsoe.
Half-brioche sweater is completed and I am quite satisfied. After moistening and blocking the fabric opened up and became even. I had to frog the hem a little bit because the garment had stretched after blocking but the yarn is not to "blame", it is rather a feature of half-brioche stitch. The sweater is fine for the weather that is not too warm and not too cold.

Tegemisi/What is going on.

Koon praegu tutava mustriga salli. Lõngad on peenike meriino Merinos Extra (BBB), 100 g/1500 m ja Kid Mohair (BBB), 25 g/250 m, vardad 4,5 mm.
I am knitting a scarf with a familiar pattern. The yarns are laceweight merino Merinos Extra (BBB), 100 g/1500 m and Kid Mohair (BBB), 25 g/250 m, needles 4.5 mm.

Varsti saab valmis poolpatentkoes ja kontrastsetest lõngadest salli retsept. Muster ise on lihtne, rohkem jutu on lõngade kombineerimisest.
I will soon release a recipe for half-brioche stitch in contrasting yarns. The pattern is easy, I mostly discuss yarn combinations.

Mis see on?/What is it?

On pime, valget aega on vähe, pildistamisega on probleeme (eriti reisil). Seetõttu selline pilt. Mis see on?
It is dark and there is very little light during the day, so taking pictures is problematic, especialy on a trip. This explains the picture. What is it?

Sall/The scarf

Eelmises postituses kirjutasin, et mul ei jätkunud lõnga sviitri lõpetamiseks ja hakkasin kuduma lihtsat salli. Täna saan puuduva toki hankida, aga niikaua on salli kootud niipalju.
In the previous post I wrote that I had run out of yarn and cannot finish the sweater and started knitting a simple scarf. I will be able to get an additional ball of yarn today; this is the scarf so far.

 

Jälle kaksikud/Twins again

Mõni muster või mall hakkab meeldima ja lähebki nii, et kordan seda erinevate lõngadega. Poolpatentkoes sall on täielik klassika. Vasakpoolse salli põhilõng on peenike mohäär (100 g/1000 m), parempoolse oma aga Angora 2 (100 g/750 m). Kontrastne lõng on mõni peenvillane (100 g/1400 m või veel peenem).
Some stitch patterns or models become favourite and it happens so that I repeat them in different yarns. Half-brioche stitch scarf is classical. The main yarn in the one on the left is thin mohair (100 g/1000 m) and in the one on the right it is Angora 2 (100 g/750 m).  The contrasting yarn is some laceweight wool (100 g/1400 m or even thinner).

Here is a glimpse of the half-brioche stitch top.You can observe autumn in the neigbour's gardern, too.

Salliga on lugu nii, et kõik oli justkui kena, aga mulle tundus, et kude võiks olla õhulisem. Harutasin ära ja võtsin 5,5 mm vardad (enne kudusin 5 mm-ga). Nüüd tundub parem.
As for the scarf, everything looked fine but I had a feeling the fabric could be more airy. I ripped it and started over with 5.5 mm needles (pereviously I wokre with 5 mm). It looks better now.

Jälle sall/Scarf again

Mul on kaks poolpatentkoes salli teravate otstega. Kootud paar aastat tagasi. Eelmisel aastal tegin veel ühe kolleegile kingituseks.
I have two scarves with pointed ends in half-brioche stitch. I made them a couple of years ago. Last yer I made one more as a present to my colleague.

 

Praegu on töös selline sall (mitte midagi erilist, laius on kogu aeg sama). Lõngad on Angora 2 ja peenike villane. Kogu saladus ongi selles, et üks lõng on jämedam ja kontrastne on päris peenike. Eelmisete sallide puhul on põhilõng mingi sokilõng või poolvillane.
Now I have this scarf on my needles (nothing special, the width is constant). The yarns are Angora 2 and laceweight wool. This is the whole secret: one yarn is heavier and the contrasting yarn is quite thin. The previous scarf have sockyarn or wool-blend as the main yarn.

Poolpatent/Half-brioche

Jätkame poolpatendiga! See lühikeste varrukatega sviiter on tegelikult juba valmis, aga pildid on eilsed.
Carrying on with half-broiche! In fact, this short sleeved sweater is already completed but the pictures are from yesterday.

Poolpatent/Half-brioche stitch

Poolpatentkude on üks lemmikmustreid.
Half-brioche stitch is one of my favourite patterns.

Pildil ei paista, aga koos on keskmine hall Angora-2 ja hästi tumesinine peenvillane. Üldmulje on pigem tumehall.
The picture does not reveal that it is a combination of Angora-2 and a very dark blue laceweight wool. A general impression is rather dark-grey.

Natuke pilte/Some pictures

Sall on valmis. Pikkus on u 180 cm. Pole veel kaalunud, ei tea, kui palju lõnga kulus.
The scarf is completed. The length is about 180 cm. I have not yet weighed it and don't know how much yarn was used.

Rätiku pilte/Pics of the shawl

Tegin mõned rätiku pildid meil Kalamajas ja tütar pildistas mind meie õues.

Vanad trikid /Old tricks

Väga ilusat värvi Midara linane, kirjutasin juba varem, et keerutasin nii ja naa ja lõpuks selgus, et vana hea poolpatentkoes asümmeetriline kolmnurkne rätik on kõige parem.
A very beatuiful colour of Midara linen, I wrote earlier that I tried and it became evident that old good half-brioche stitch asymmetrical triangular shawl is the best. Old tricks. 

Alumisel pildil on enam-vähem õige värv. Mulle meedlib, et kude on ebaühtlane ja pildil paistab, justkui koon traati.
In the bottom picture the colour is more or less true. I like that the fabric is uneven and it appears as if I am knitting wire.
