Head uut (kudu)aastat!/Happy new (knit)year!

Paljud teevad aasta kokkuvõtte. Ma ei hakka postitama valminud kudumite pilte ega publikatsioonide nimekirja. Püüan iseloomustada üldiselt, mille poolest see aasta meelde jääb.
1) Muidugi raamatu ilmumine.
2) Suhteliselt regulaarne ja süstemaatiline õpetamine.
3) Uus formaat: nn retsept täpse õpetuse asemel. Sellel formaadil on oma auditoorium. Tulin selle peale puhtjuhuslikult (Langeva krae topi valem, kooskudumised Mustrimaailmas ja Ravelrys), kavatsen jätkata.
4) Eelmise punkti jätkuks: tavalise õpetuste testimise asemel pigem kooskudumised. Selles mõttes on retsept päris tänuväärne asi: kui kirjeldus on selge, siis võib kohe proovima hakata.
Many are making a summary of the year. I am not going to post pictures of finished knits neither a list of publications. I will try to provide a general characterization of what was remarkable this year.
1) The book, of course.
2) Relatively regular and systematic teaching.
3) A new format: so-called recipe instead of traditional exact patterns. The format has its audience. I arrived at this quite accidentally (Waterfall collar top formula, KALs on Mustrimaailm and Ravelry) and I am going to continue this.
4) It follows from the previous point: rather KALs of recipes than traditional pattern testing. In this sense, recipe appears quite productive: provided that the description is clear, you can start right away.
Plaanidest praegu niipalju:
1) Jaanuari jooksul tuleb diagonaalse sviitri kooskudumine (Mustrimaailmas ja Ravelrys), vt pilt all.
2) Juba valmib lubatud postitus värvidest ja stiilis.
3) Ootan käsitsikedratud lõnga Liisilt, et alustada kudumit.
4) Tuleb läbi mõelda paar konstruktsiooni.
5) Kavatsen õpetada, järgmisel õppeaastal tuleb (muule lisaks) väike kursus Tallinna Rahvaülikoolis.
At this point, these are some of my plans:
1) In January there will be a KAL of the diagonal-patterned sweater (on Mustrimaailm and Ravelry), see the picture below.
2) The promised post on colours and style is already in preparation.
3) I am expecting hand-spun yarn from Liis in order to start knitting.
4) A couple of constructions should be given a thought.
5) I am going to continue teaching; next academic year (in addition to other things) there will be a small cours at Tallinn Public University.

Kahes eelmises postituses mainitud paksust lõngast sviiter kuivab. Kuivamine võtab aega, sest lõng on üsna jäme. Eile tekkis arutelu, et kas see pole ümmarguse passega konstruktsioon. Tehnilises mõttes ei ole, kuid teatud visuaalne sarnasus on võib-olla isegi olemas. Siin  ja siin kirjutasin, et "sama" ja "erinev" võtab kudumisdisainis päris ootamatu pöörde.
The sweater from thick yarn I mentioned in the previous two posts is drying. It will take some time because the yarn is rather bulky. Yesterday a discussion came up whether this is not the rounded yoke construction. It is not in the technical sense but there may be some visual similarity. Here and here I wrote about the fact that "same" and "diferent" may take quite unexpected turn in knitting design.

Postitus värvidest tuleb, aga pisut hiljem, kuna sellised teoreetilisemad jutud nõuavad ettevalmistust ja täpset sõnastamist. Aga nüüd näitan, mis on käsil.
The promised post about colours will appear somewhat later because such more theoretically-minded texts require preparation and precise wording. And now I will show what I am working on.

Jakk tuleb pisut lohvakas, sirge varrukaga. Krae tuleb ka. Lõng ei anna eriti langevat koepinda, seetõttu arvan, et teen nööpaugud. Plaanis on teha proportsioonide tähelepanekuid, et edaspidi oleks selge, kuidas toimida sellise tegumoega olenemata lõngast.
The jacket will be with some positive ease and with straith sleeves. There will be a collar, too. The yarn does not yield a draping fabric and this is why I will make button holes. I am planning to pay attention to proportions in order to get a clear idea about this shape, regardless of yarn.

Sviiter ja mõned plaanid/The sweater and some plans

Selgub, et mul ei jätku lõnga. Pean ootama 27. detsembrini, mil pood on jälle lahti. Praegu on valmis üks varrukas (3/4) ja teine alustatud, kere on umbes taljeni kootud. Seega 50-100 g lõnga oleks veel vaja.
It turns out that I don't have enough yarn. I will have to wait till the 27th of December when the store will be open again. By now I have one sleeve (3/4) and the second one started; the torso is at the waist level. Thus, I will need 50-100 g of yarn more.

 Peab ütlema, et see konstruktsioon on eriti hea lühikese varruka puhul (seega plaanis on ka suvised asjad). Antud juhul aga arvasin, et kuna lõng pole just suvine, ei ole lühike varrukas eriti mõttekas.
I have to say this construction is extremely good for short sleeves (thus, I am planning some summer knits). In this case, however, I decided that since the yarn is not exactly for summar, short sleeves do not make sence.

Plaanidest on veel nii palju: varsti tuleb postitus värvidest. Leidsin eile ühe stilisti huvitavat materjali ja sain loa kasutada ja tutvustada.
Something about further plans: I will post soon about colours. Yesterday I found some interesting material from a stylist and got permision to use and to present it.

Huvitav uus lõng/Facinating new yarn

Nagu mainisin eelmises postituses, oli WW-s väljamüük. Ostsin lõnga nimega Sugar (Miroglia), 100 g/180 m, poolvillane. Tahtsin teha midagi reljeefse pinnaga ja perenaine ütles, et see lõng sobib selleks hästi.
As mentioned in the previous post, there was a sale in WW. I got yarn named Surgar (Miroglia), 100 g/180 m, half-wool. I wanted to get a textured fabric and the owner said the yarn is rather suitable for this purpose.

Selgus aga, et soonik jm vertikaalsed mustrid pole eriti nähtavad, küll aga sobivad horisontaalsed triibud. Tegemist on jälle konstruktsiooniga, mida pole tükk aega kudunud, nüüd on plaan teha mitu asja.
It became clear that ribbing and other vertical patterns are not visible enough but horisontal stirpes are extremely suitable. I have not done this construciton for a while but now I plan several knits with it.

Diagonaalid nr. 2/Diagonal sweater no 2

Täna oli W&W poes järjekordne väljamüük, jõudsin sinna kl 10 ja minu üllatuseks oli kõik vaikne. Eve valmistus pikaks peavaks. Ave ja mina ostsime midagi, sellest mõni teine kord.
Today it was yet another sale in W&W store, I arrived there at 10 a.m. and to my surprise it was rather quiet there. Eve was preparing to face a long day. Ave and myself bought some yarn, I will tell about it another time.

Diagonaalne sviiter sai kiiresti valmis. Muidugimõista, lõng on jäme (50 g/110 m), muster lihtne, koob ennast ise. Ave, tänan piltide eest!
I finished the Diagonal sweater in no time. But of course, the yarn is bulky (50 g/110 m), the pattern is easy and knits itself. Ave, thanks for the pictures.

At some point there will be KAL on Ravelry and on Mustrimaailm.

Jälle diagonaalid/Diagonals again

Kuna viimases Käsitöös ilmunud diagonaalsete joontega sviiter on pälvinud Ravelrys tähelepanu, lubasin, et teen midagi sarnast, aga teisest lõngast. Ühtlasi arutasime, et võiks korraldada kooskudumise Mustrimaailma foorumis. Hakkasingi kuduma Karisma-nimelisest villasest lõngast (Drops, 50 g/105 m). Ma ei korda vanemat mudelit sajaprotsendiliselt, vaid teen midagi ka teistmoodi. Värv on tegelikult tumedam ja külmem.

While the diagonal-patterned sweater published in the recent issue of Käsitöö has been favoured quite a lot on Ravelry, I promised to design something similar but from a different yarn. At the same time we agreed that there will be a KAL on the Estonian craft forum Mustrimaailm. So I started knitting from Karisma wool (Drops, 50 g/105 m). I am not entirely reproducing the previous model but will introduce some changes. In reality the colour is darker and colder.
